My biggest regret in life is that I didn’t design him/wasn’t involved in the production of RotG

I drew dis but I didn’t know whether to put it on my personal blog or my fanart blog so it’s going on both.

P.S. Sorry I’m a derp when it comes to updating regularly. This is a fun blog and unfortunately I haven’t had a hell of a lot of time for fun drawing lately. Awww boo.

I was wondering, did you find a place to stay at in London? Did someone on Tumblr offer? I hope you did. I like to think this is one of the great perks of making online, international friends. Like, once I get my own place, I'd totally open my doors for anyone who comes to my country, wouldn't even ask for money, fff. Hope you're having a nice time!

Actually, I did!!! Keekal offered to let me stay with her and her boyfriend, Jake. I’ve spent a lot of time with her and BlessedJessed (both of them art one way or another). I can’t really articulate enough how awesome it’s been either, largely because I’m staying with amazing people. Like we even bought friendship bracelets at the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, such is the extent of our love. It’s the greatest thing to travel AND meet lovely people so if you ever have the chance to, take it. Basically

Perhaps the highlight bit of information (for me) was Mark Gatiss talking about Sherlock and Mycroft’s childhood - someone asked if they’d written or decided on a history for the Holmes brothers. He said that they’d imagined a young Sherlock deducing out loud that their father was having an affair, and that Sherlock was too young at the time to understand why this should be such an issue. That tugged at my heartstrings something awful (and makes perfect sense with Sherlock’s heated ‘I’m not the one who upset her, Mycroft!’ bit in ASiP).

Second highlight would have been sitting directly in front of Amanda Abbington. She signed my sketchbook. I’m still a bit gobsmacked about the whole thing. She’s SO sweet to her fans!

Sherlock inspired doodles soon to come. Thanks x a billion to ilovemyjawn since she got the tickets and was gracious enough to tolerate me for the day. GIRL YOUR KEYCHAINS ARE MAKIN’ ALL MY FRIENDS JELLY.

There’s a scene in Howl’s Moving Castle where Howl is basically Sheetlock so I redrew it from a screengrab, except Sherlock is sick and John is offering tea but probably Sherlock will scoff because it’s chamomile or something he doesn’t appreciate, the snot. Howl and Sherlock are the same person.

I’ve officially booked my flight to London, where I’ll be staying for the month of November. Now the only issue is WHERE I’ll be staying, and since tumblr is full of lovely people, I thought I’d look here before braving craigslist.

Then I could be your dream roomie for a month :D My name’s Alanna, I’m 24, I’m an artist, but I also write things. This year I wanted to travel, and I also wanted to do Nanowrimo (national novel writing month), so I decided to combine the two. If you are also participating in Nano then that is doubly good because we can stop each other from falling into that writerly pit of despair all authors know and loathe. As a roomie I have magic powers; I can either be the best friend you’ve ever had or I will be the invisible person who pays you money to live there but you never see or hear, whichever you seem to prefer I will revert to either. Ask anybody I’ve lived with, seriously, I’m either their best friend or they’re like ‘who? oh yeah, that was a name I remember cuz she kept giving me cheques every month…’

If you do not have a place for me to sleep, but want to meet up, that is going to be possible, or if you want to give me sound advice on finding a place to live that is also much appreciated. Because I honestly don’t know what the fuck I’m doing 8D

Fan Expo Mini-Sherlockian Meetup

So a few of you wanted to meetup at Fan Expo, so I spied around on google street view and I’m just going to throw up a date, time and place because honestly IhavenoideawhatI’mdoing. So there’s a Starbucks on the corner of Wellington and John St. just North of the Metro Convention Centre. Saturday at 12 noon I’ll be there with keychains and buttons, because that’s pretty much all I’ve got left, but come even if you aren’t interested in doodads, because being nerds is better than doodads.

I’ll wear my alarming pink tartan button up shirt because it’s the loudest thing I own, but you might also recognize me by my bag as it’s blue and covered in TARDIS..es… what is the plural of TARDIS?

I’m going to be self-indulgent and pimp my webcomic on my fanart blog, okay?

These boys are Nine and Dice. They are gay vigilante shapeshifters in a webcomic called Grayscale that features a lot of organized crime, mad science and (eventually) man love.

This got longer than it should have: info on merch people have bought, possible prints if you want them, also fan expo news, also I’m psychic.

Just a head’s up that all my storenvy orders have been shipped and should be arriving soon to those of you in the US and Canada. The international orders will probably take a little longer, but as those were all over the place I have no way of knowing how long. Contact me if there’s any trouble though, either by ask or my storenvy contact thingy.

Some people contacted me about prints they’d like to get. If there’s a specific print you want, send me an ask about which ones you’d like and I’ll see if I can’t get a bunch made when I go to print my other webcomic.

ALSOALSO if you are going to Fan Expo - so am I, but I didn’t get a table, I’m just gonna fart around and nerd out. But people have expressed an interest in meeting up for lunch and buying some merch off me (which has the added benefit of avoiding shipping costs). Three people have already contacted me about that though so maybe there should be Sherlockian lunch meet up? Send suggestions for places to meet, I’ve never been to Fan Expo, I’m not even sure where it is because that is just how prepared I am. I am a terrible event organizer but I’m gonna try. FOR YOU GUYS.

Lastly, I had to guesstimate the cost of shipping because I’d never shipped stuff all over the world before, I’m usually the one paying to have stuff shipped to me. So I basically assumed that I am usually overcharged by big companies for shipping and set my shipping at something I thought was more reasonable and GUESS WHAT, the total for shipping all those orders came out to EXACTLY how much I charged. Clearly I’m a genius.

He can’t really explain the red pants.

They came in a set of four, the other ones a very acceptable black, gray and blue. The red one was something of a surprise, a manufacturer’s attempt at whimsy maybe. He hadn’t put much thought to it when he bought them, but once he found himself standing in the buff in front of his wardrobe, staring into his underwear drawer at the cheerfully red thing, he had inevitably experienced a horrifying moment of ‘oh holy God I am almost 40 bloody years old and am about to put on a pair of red y-fronts what the hell is wrong with me’.

Of course he’d put them on anyway. John Watson wasn’t about to be bullied into conformity by a pair of pants, after all.

They’re very comfy. Logically he knows they can’t be any more comfortable than the gray ones, but he supposes it’s just one of those psychological things that Sherlock would probably have a ball deducing. They fit well. They’re soft. They make his bits feel snug and cozy, which is good. And really now, let’s just be honest, they’re a bit of private party every time he goes to the loo, a flash of bright colour, like a giddy little secret hidden in his trousers.

Again, Sherlock would have a ball deducing all sorts of things about him with that one. Just one of the many reasons John is very glad he flat-out refuses to do any of their laundry, really, even if the frightfully knowing smile Mrs. Hudson offered him after a pile of clean clothes appeared on the foot of his bed, folded neatly, was a little unnerving.

And then he loses them. They’re not in his drawers, they’re not in the hamper, they’re not downstairs in the washer either. He checks under his bed, he checks inside the duvet covers (because you never know), he even bloody well combs out the entire bathroom because stranger things have happened, but the thing’s genuinely gone. It actually sort of ruins his day, because he’s just lost his favourite pair of pants, and it’s not like the thing’s grown a pair of feet and scampered off. He just really can’t stand that sort of thing.

But, when he comes home later that day after a long, slow shift at the surgery, he finds them. It turns out the thing has grown a pair of feet – Sherlock’s feet, to be precise, attached to Sherlock’s impossibly long legs, followed by Sherlock’s impossibly plush bum clad comfortably in John’s red pants. He’s standing in the kitchen, the leggy bastard, doing some experiment on their kitchen table and wearing exactly nothing except for John’s pants. John is used to a lot of things, he genuinely is, living with Sherlock. Finding eyeballs in the microwave, a few feet of small intestine coiled up in the vegetable drawer in the fridge, or even just his flatmate wearing a bright yellow raincoat asleep upside down on an armchair, all of that doesn’t phase him in the slightest any more, but this one gives him a bit of a pause.

Just a bit of one, though.

“Sherlock, are those my -“
“Laundry, John,” Sherlock answers, like that just sort of explains everything, because it’s absolutely normal nick your flatmate’s smalls when you’ve run out of clean ones yourself. Your flatmate’s red smalls, even, and John almost asks why he didn’t just pick another pair but realises he genuinely doesn’t need to know Sherlock’s reasoning behind that one.

“So you steal one of my pants.”
“It was either this or Mrs. Hudson’s unmentionables, John, and I’d honestly much rather brave my chances with your underwear drawer.”
“Do personal boundaries mean anything to you?”
“Not particularly, no.”

Well, at least that’s an honest answer. They don’t even suit him that well, John thinks. The red clashes oddly with his skintone, the fit makes him look somewhat adolescent, just a little bit too big on him. Never mind how nice his arse looks in the soft cotton, how the thing reveals yet conceals, and how John finds it worryingly difficult to tear his eyes away. Thank God Sherlock has his back to him, really, because John can’t really say for sure he’s managing to keep his face under control right now. There’s something very specific about seeing Sherlock in an item of his clothing, specific in a way John is pretty sure he’s not really supposed to feel towards his flatmate. His male flatmate. His very male, very god-awfully beautiful flatmate ohjesustapdancingchrist.

He convinces himself this would have all been much easier to deal with if Sherlock had nicked, say, a jumper, rather than his underwear.

“Nice colour though,” Sherlock says and John can just hear his self-satisfied grin. He covers his face with his hands and sighs deeply, just resigning himself to the situation because there’s no way he’ll win this weird little battle anyway.

“You’re such an insufferable bastard,” he mumbles, the words muffled by his hands, and Sherlock chuckles. “Should you be doing experiments in your underwear though?”
“It’s fine. Nothing corrosive.”

John steps closer and reaches out. On a whim he hooks a finger under the waistband, right in the middle of Sherlock’s lower back, his knuckle brushing against warm skin. He’s painfully aware of the shockingly alluring swell of Sherlock’s buttocks, now just about visible within the red fabric, but assures himself it means nothing, nothing, as he pulls on the elastic, just a bit. He feels Sherlock tense ever so slightly, a muscle twitching on the side of one long thigh, then releases the waist band. It snaps back to Sherlock’s skin with a soft if very satisfying thwip.

“Stay out of my stuff,” he says.
“Fine.”
“And don’t do experiments in your underwear’.”
“Also fine.”
“And put some trousers on or some such, because this is just distracting, you prat.”

Sherlock laughs.

I’ve gotten a few asks about commissions so I made a standardized sorta pricing sheet based on levels of completion for an image. These only apply to fanart though (preferably from fandoms I’m familiar with: Sherlock, Avengers, Doctor Who, Supernatural, Merlin, if you’re curious about another one just ask). You can request NSFW stuff too.

Prices

Rough sketch - $15
Linework - $30
Shaded Linework - $35
Colour - $40

If you want one, just send me an ask with what characters/scenario you’d like, what style you’d like it in (ie rough sketch, colour etc.), and your paypal address. If I don’t respond immediately, it just means I’m a bit busy and won’t be able to get to yours just yet. I’ll send you an invoice and a reply when I am ready to take yours on.

Bonus Sketches - If you pay $50 up front for a colour piece, I will do THREE sketches, you get all three and can choose which one you like best for colour.

P.S. If you’re wondering why the price increase for linework is a lot higher than shading and colour, that’s just because it’s the most time consuming part of the process for me, while shading/colouring doesn’t take so much time (and I love colouring :P).

I’ve opened my store! <- this is the linky to the store.

If you were interested in any of the doodads I was selling at conventions, I’ve put together a store with some of the left over merchandise. There isn’t much but if there’s a lot of demand I can always make more.

Send me an ask if anything seems amiss. I’ve never done this before ~~and I’m kind of nervous~~.

P.S. the acrylic keychain looks big in that photo because my roomie’s camera is a beast, but it’s only 2” and quite bitty, so keep that in mind.

P.S.S. Benedict’s eyes are my business card (on the reverse side I have misspelled my own name, don’t judge me I had to make them in a hurry!) and they get thrown into any order you make, so if you’re wondering how to get the business card… order pretty much anything else and you’ll get the eyeballs too. XP
